Will the children have a snack?

Yes, the boys and girls will have the opportunity to have a brief
snack in the afternoon. It is best to send a nutritious snack
and a drink they will be able to finish in about ten minutes.

Can I send in birthday treats?

Children usually celebrate birthdays by bringing enough of a
snack (cupcakes or cookies) for the number of children in our
class. They like to share them with the other Second Grade
Teachers and Front Office Staff. If you would kindly send a note
with your intentions regarding day and time, we can coordinate a
convenient time for you to drop off treats.

Do the children have birthday parties along with birthday treats?

Unfortunately, time is limited and does not allow for each child
to bring in additional items on their birthday. Bear in mind
that while treat bags, tablecloths, and balloons may help to
honor your child's birthday, our schedule only permits
approximately ten minutes for snack. You may leave your snack at
the front office. (Sorry, the use of video equipment and
flash photography during the snack is prohibited.)

Are the children allowed to pass out party invitations?

The policy for second grade is "ALL OR NONE." If your child is
planning a party where every student in the class is invited (or
all boys only or all girls only), they are allowed to pass them
out at the end of the day.

What to do if there is a change to our dismissal plan?

You can let me know by sending in a note with your child in the
morning. Children must have a note to make any changes to normal
dismissal procedures.
