Becoming a teacher has been my lifelong dream. To have the chance
to spend my days reading, writing, discovering, and--even singing at work—
doesn’t seem like work at all. I believe teaching is among life’s noblest
professions. I strive to bring my love of children, experience, energy,
patience, creativity, sense of humor, and my genuine honesty into the
classroom each and everyday.
I realize that each child is an individual, and that each and every
student will be different. But, in my heart I know that every child has the
potential for greatness. One student may have a love for numbers, and yet
another may have a yearning for the written word. I enjoy the diversity of
all students and recognize that each mind has the potential for individual
greatness. I respect each child’s uniqueness, intellectually and
emotionally.
I plan to meet the challenges of ensuring that each and every
student is inspired to learn while in my classroom, and for the rest of
their lives. I am fortunate to join my students as they embark upon the
exciting discovery of learning. It gives me great satisfaction to have the
chance to start each new day with children who bring their curiosity and
ideas to school.
Teaching Experience:
This September, will be my eleventh year teaching second grade. Prior
to teaching second grade, I was a long-term substitute here at Green Hills
School. Included in my many placements were, long-term fifth and sixth grade
language arts and social studies, gym (yes, I really taught gym!), library,
and all grade levels K-8. I was also Creator and Director of S.A.F.E.
Children, Inc. This was a program designed to teach children about
abduction awareness and avoidance. I delivered this program to over 100
schools in the Tri-State area.
Personal:
My interests outside of school include spending time with my husband and
daughter. We enjoy spending time in Cape May with our extended family. I
have four brothers and three sisters--that means I have a lot of nieces and
nephews! We are also very lucky to have a total of seven amazing
grandchildren. I love children and appreciate how much I can learn from them
everyday. I also love to visit and learn about new places, reading, theater,
music, and art. Most of all, I love helping children learn to love learning
and to help them become readers and love books as much as I do!
My mission is to approach each day and every student with fullness
of heart and heartfelt commitment. I accept my moral and human
responsibility to each child, wholeheartedly. I am concerned about the ways
of knowing and the dignity of the knower. I realize that each child is an
individual, and each and every child possesses something special. It will
be my pleasure to guide them into discovering what their own special
something is. I am privileged to spend my days with students and witness
the amazing phenomenon that occurs when young minds converge with
knowledge. As their teacher, I will meet my students with an open mind and
an open heart.
