Announcements

This week in Algebra, we will be wrapping up Chapter 5.  On Monday and Tuesday, we will explore the Standard Form of a Linear Equation.  On Wednesday, students will participate in the 2nd Math Olympiad.  On Thursday, we will learn how to use interpolation and extrapolation to predict outcomes given a set of data.  On Friday, we will begin preparing for the Chapter 5 test with an in-class review.  The Chapter 5 test will be on Tuesday, 12/22/09.  I will be available after school on Monday for review.

This week in Pre-Algebra, we will wrap up Chapter 3 by learning how to solve Multi-Step Inequalities and solve inequality word problems.  We will review in class on Thursday in preparation for our Chapter 3 test on Friday.  I will be after school on Tuesday for any students who would like extra-help.  Students should take the time to review the errors that they made on Quiz 3.1-3.3 in preparation for the test.  Additionally, students should begin studying no later than Wednesday, so they have the opportunity to ask about concepts that they don't understand.

When you are completing your homework, please remember the following:
  • Homework must be done in pencil!
  • Copy the problem exactly as it appears in the book (unless it's a word problem), show all work and circle your answer.
  • Your homework should be completed on the next page of your notebook.
  • Please list the assignment on the top of the page.
  • Algebra I students - check your answers in the back of the book and note any questions you don't understand.  Be prepared to ask questions about them in class the next day.
When you are Reading and Taking Notes (RTN), please be sure to do the following:
  • Define any new vocabulary in your notes.
  • Read through all example problems.
  • Cover the solutions and retry the example problems in your notebooks to ensure understanding.
  • Be prepared to ask questions on any concepts you did not understand.
