This week in Algebra, we will be taking our last quiz of the quarter on Tuesday. We will review chapters 4.1-4.3 in class on Monday in preparation for the quiz on Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, we will be learning how to find the slope of a line, both graphically and algebraically. On Friday, we will be investigating models of constant variation. I will be after school on Monday for any student who would like extra help.
This week in Pre-Algebra, we will begin chapter 11 - Data Analysis. On Monday and Tuesday, we will learn how box-and-whisker plots (section 11.2) provide help us visually understand a set of data. On Wednesday, we will investigate the best data display to use for various types of data (section 11.3). On Thursday, we will learn how to create and read three-attribute Venn diagrams. We will wrap up the chapter on Friday by looking at vertex edge graphs. The chapter 11 test will be on Tuesday, 11/17/09. I will be after school on Tuesday for any student who would like extra-help or to continue reviewing how to solve problems, use the distributive property and combine like terms. These are important concepts that you will use throughout Pre-Algebra and all future math courses and you need to ensure you understand the concepts.
