We are now in the home stretch of 6th grade. Students will be completing the Unit 7 Open
Response in class on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will be reviewing in class in
preparation for the Final Exam. Part I of the final will be given on Thursday. Students will
not be permitted to use a calculator on Part I. Part II of the final will be given on Friday.
All students must have their calculators in class on Friday. There will be an after school
review on Wednesday afternoon for students who would like some extra review time.
In addition to completing the Final Exam Review Sheet for homework on Monday & Tuesday
(available on this website), students can also study for the final by reviewing tests and
quizzes from units 5 through 8. I have also added review sheets from these units to my website
with answer keys. There will be a few questions on material from chapters 1 through 4, although
most questions are from the second half of the year. Students need to realize that the math
they have learned throughout this year are building blocks for all the math they will learn in
the years to come. Students are responsible for all the material they learned this year.
This has been a great year! Your children have grown from elementary school children to
independent, middle schoolers. We have shared wonderful experiences throughout this year in the
classroom, on field trips, in the hallways and at house events. I am so thankful to have had
each and every child and have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow, both as students of
mathematics and as individuals. I hope that we can finish off this week with all the enthusiasm
I have enjoyed all year! Enjoy your last full week of 6th grade (and don't forget to study!)
One last reminder that our house will be celebrating with an end of the year party on Friday
during periods 8 & 9. Students that continue to complete homework and exhibit good citizenship
will be celebrating. Permission slips went home last week. Please return to your study teacher
by Tuesday.
