Do I need to bring my book to class everyday?
Pre-Algebra students will be able to leave their texts at home as we expect to have enough for a
class set, too! We do not have extra Algebra texts, however, so those students will need to bring
their text to class every day. All students will have the opportunity to bring home a CD of the
textbook as well. More information will be forthcoming regarding this CD.
When/Where can I get extra help?
I will offer extra help in room 2618 one or two days a week. I will announce those days as soon as I
have the opportunity to confer with my students.
Do you hold a review sesson for tests and quizzes after school?
No. We will review before most tests and quizzes in class. After school
help may be available to assist you with any specific questions or difficulties
you may be having with the material.
What must I bring for extra help?
You must bring your questions and all math materials (notebook, pencil, calculator).
What is your homework policy?
Homework is assigned almost every night. Students are expected to complete
the homework daily. Daily homework is worth 2 points if it is done
completely, in pencil, on time, and all work is shown. Partial credit is
given if all problems are attempted, and all work is shown. Students
will be given partial credit for homework turned in one day late. Homework
is not accepted more than 1 day late. Occasionally, homework will be collected and graded.
What is your grading policy?
The grading policy is set by the Mathematics Department as follows:
45% Tests and major projects
30% Quizzes and minor projects
10% Homework
15% Classwork and Performance Assessments
There is no extra-credit!
How should I prepare for a quiz or test?
The best way to study for a math quiz or test is to review your homework and classwork,
especially those problems that were done incorrectly (these problems should be easy to identify,
because math is always done in pencil, and corrections are made in ink)! Check the link for Power
Point/Smart Board Presentations to get the class notes and examples. Furthermore, your textbook
has additional problems at the end of each section and chapter, as well as in the back of the
book. Don't forget the online reviews at www.classzone.com.
What are Mrs. Comerford's Class Rules?
1. Be respectful
2. Be prepared
3. Be responsible for your learning
Can I do my work in pen?
NO! Math homework and class work must be done in PENCIL. Only corrections in ink are allowed.
