Hammarskjold Middle School Orchestra (HMSO)
Dr. Braun has been the HMSO director since 1987. She has had the privilege
of interacting with thousands of students in her career as the HMSO director
and in the many extra curricular activities of which she has been a part.
She has been an adjudicator at NJ All-State and Region II auditions for over
20 years, and has managed the NJ All-State Intermediate Orchestra,
and the Region II Intermediate and Senior Orchestras several times.
Additionally, Dr. Braun has served as a part-time lecturer at Rutgers
University.
Dr. Braun was named 2006 Master Music Teacher by the New Jersey Music
Educators Association and received the 2006 NJ Governor's Award in Arts
Leadership. She is listed in the 2007 "Who's Who in America."
Dr. Braun, a violist, has performed with numerous ensembles, including the
Trenton Symphony, the Delaware Valley Philharmonic, the Princeton Chamber
Orchestra, the Princeton Pro Musica, and several string quartets in the
Princeton area.
Dr. Braun is a graduate of East Brunswick High School (Class of 1981). She
has earned Bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey, a Master’s
degree from Marygrove College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership
from Walden University.
Dr. Braun is a "marching band mom" and spends her weekends during football
season helping with the many activities of the EBHS Marching Band. Her oldest
son, Robert, is a drum major with the EBHS Marching Band. Go Bears!
