class today: (complete this on pages 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 of notes - 2
achievements per page)
Directions:
•	Identify the achievement
•	Write 3-5 bullet points explaining the achievement
•	Connection to today
	* Write 3-5 sentences explaining why the achievement is still
important today (either in the USA or somewhere in the world)

This is what each should look like:

Example: (3-5 bullets from the reading in the folders)
	Military Organization
*all citizens who owned land were required to serve in army
		*army was divided:
				units (legions)
				smaller units (centuries)
		*attacked enemies from all sides
		*cooperation and discipline important
*legion could put up/take down camp in one night…very mobile

(Connection to modern times)
•	The Roman army provided a model for how an organized, well-run army
should function. Today, the military is organized into different branches,
each branch serving a different function. Within each branch are smaller
divisions. This allows the members to become specially trained in different
areas and helps a country to develop a strong and effective military.
