What can my School Counselor / Student Assistance Specialist do for me?

The counselors are specially trained to know how to listen and
help you with your problems. We take your problem seriously and
work with you to find a solution, and it doesn't just have to be
about school. A counselor can help you deal with sadness when
someone has died as well as advise you on taking the right
classes for you.

How do I see the counselor?

In Hammarskjold, you can ask your teacher for a pass to come to
the Guidance Office or stop by before school starts.
It's usually a good idea to visit your counselor and get to know
her even if you don't have a problem. This will help you feel
comfortable with her in case you ever do need to see her in a
time of crisis.
