Periodos 1 y 3: Unit 3.3. This week you will describe how you feel by using
expressions with the verb "tener".
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: This week we will start Unit 3.2. You will be learning
about sports. More specifically, you will use the verb "jugar" and you will
learn vocabularyu related to sports.
7-11 de abril
Periodos 1 y 3: You will be comparing sports. You will learn hot make
comparisons and how to say better and worse.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: We will be learning how to say what just happened. If you
are going to Fairview, make sure you read page 205.

Periods 1, 3: You will have the sports vocabulary quiz on Tuesday.
Periods 4, 5, 8: You will have the oral presentation (invitations) on
Tuesday.

Periodos 1 y 3: This week we will start Unit 3. 2 and the theme will be
sports. We will discuss different sports and the equipment needed to play
them. We will also go over the forms of the verb "jugar".
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: We will cover the next topic in Unit 3.1 which is
invitations. You will learn to extend them, accept and decline them.
25- 28 de marzo
Periodos 1 y 3: The theme for this week is expressing likes. We will go over
the forms of the verb and ME-TE-LE-NOS-LES. Towards the end of the week we
will start reviewing for the unit test: 3.1. The test will be next Monday.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: The theme for this week is emotions. We will go over the
vocabulary and we will practice gender and number agreement.
10-14 de marzo
Periodos 1 y 3: We will be working on talking about the recent past: events
that just happened and where we are coming from. Go to "Documentos" for
handouts.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: Monday and Tuesday we will be using verbs that end in ER
(e.g. comer and beber) and going over their meaning and how we use them. The
rest of the week, we will be looking at verbs that end in IR and then
comparing all three endings: AR, ER and IR.
3- 7 de marzo
Periodos 1 y 3: We will be reviewing and then you will learn how to describe
recent events: say what just happened and say where you are coming from.
25- 29 de febrero
Periodos 1 y 3: You are going to extend, accept and decline invitations. You
are also going to incorporate as much recent vocabulary as possible. You are
also going to practice verb endings.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: You are going to sequence events and share short
conversations witht the class. On Thursday we are going to start discussing
breakfast habits: what you eat and drink.
19-22 de febrero
Periodos 1 y 3: You are going to extend, accept and decline invitations. You
will also be conversing with partners and asking follow up questions. For

Periodos 4, 5 y 8: El FUTURO. You are going to learn how to talk about
future plans. You are also going to learn how to sequence them. For

11 y 12 de febrero
Periodos 1 y 3: We are going to go over the emotions and paid attention to
the verb we use to express them (estar) and to adjective endings (femenino,
masculino y plural).
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: We are going to review and discuss free time activities
like riding a bike and reading a magazine.
4 de febrero
Periodos 1 y 3: VWe went over verbs in Spanish and how they have three
possible endings: AR, ER and IR. They are conjugated differently according
to their ending. We also reviewed the meaning of IR verbs. For a handout, go
to documentos and click on verbos Ar Er Ir.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: We started discussing schedules and where we go.
29 de enero
Periodos 1 y 3: El desayuno. We talked about what we eat and drink for
breakfast. We looked at the verbs we use for that: comer and beber. We paid
attention the endings since comer and beber end in ER. For example, como,
comes, come, comemos, comen.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: ¿Dónde? We went over places and learned how to say where
people are. We use the verb estar + en.
23 de enero
Periodos 1 y 3: Today was the last day to work on your presentation in
class. Remember to sequence your activities and that you need a poster or
Power Point if you chose to work by yourself.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: We practiced time and the difference between ¿Qué hora es?
and ¿A qué hora? We use a la/s to tell when we talk about schedules, to say
at what time something takes place.
17 de enero
Periodos 1 y 3: We sequenced plans for the future. We put activities in
order by using primero, luego/ después and por fin.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: ¿Qué hora es? We saw how we tell time in Spanish. For

Periodos 1 y 3: We went over how to talk about the future. Please click

9 de enero
Periodos 1 y 3: Today we started Unit 2.3. You can go to pages 163-164 for
reference. We went over some of the new vocabulary related to free time
activities. Please see "documentos" for a copy.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: Today we looked at verbs and how we conjugate them. That
means we change the endings according to who we are talking about. Please
see "documentos" for notes.

Periods 1 and 3: We exercised our memory by doing a word search on different
conjugated verbs.
Periods 4,5 and 8: We went over questions about school habits. We paid
attention to verbs in Spanish: how they end in AR and when you begin a
sentence with YO you add an "o" and when you use Tú you add "as".
13 y 14 de diciembre
All periods: I will not be here since I am getting married! Class will be
given by Mrs Doran. She is a substitute who taught at Hammarskjold for over
twenty years. I trust you will all behave and be cooperative. Thank you for
all your warm wishes. I will bring treats when I am back. Have a good

Periodos 1 y 3: Review day. We practiced for the quiz tomorrow. We paid
special attention to verb conjugations.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: After the quiz on tener, we started going over classes.
We learned the names and pronunciation and then we described them.
26 de noviembre
Periodos 1 y 3: We reviewed vocabulary related to school (classes and
objects) and then talked about school activities and how often we do them.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: Today we finished oral presentations. Grades will be given
out tomorrow.

Periodos 1 y 3: We started the unit on school. Today we identified and
described classes.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: We continued the unit on family. Today we saw how we
explain relationships and went over telling ages.
12 de noviembre
Periodos 1 y 3: La familia. We identified vocabulary and introduced family
members, their relationship to us and how old they are.
Peridos 4,5 y 8: La ropa. Students identified clothing and practiced
describing what people are wearing. We paid close attention to gender and
number agreement for clothing and colors (e.g. los zapatos negros)

Periodo 1: Some of the students presented their poster to the class.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: We went over vocabulary related to description. We
practiced describing people in paintings.

Periodos 4,5 y 7: We learned how to describe someone's hair and eyes.
31 de octubre:
Periodos 1 y 3: ¡Felíz Noche de Brujas! Today the students took the unit
test and then they were assigned a project, Una persona especial. For a copy

Periodos 4,5 y 8: ¡Felíz Noche de Brujas! Today the students had a short
vocabulary quiz and then we went over the review packet assigned yesterday.

Periodos 1 y 3: Today the students described paintings by Botero combining
all the information we have learned to describe people. We paid particular
attention to clothes and modifying the colors according to gender.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: The students reviwed adjectives to describe personality.
We paid particular attention the how adjectives change according to gender
and number, e.g. Michael es simpático. Mi mamá es simpática. Michael y Kenny
son simpáticos. Las chicas son simpáticas.

Periodos 1 y 3: We went over items of clothing and how to describe them.
Periodos 4, 5 y 8: We reviewed adjectives to describe personality. We also
paid attention to how adjetives change according to gender and number:

Periodos 1 y 3: The students completed a vocabulary quiz (describing
personality)and then they went over the different options for decribing hair
and eyes.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: Today half the class did the oral on describing animals.

Periodos 1 y 3: We reviewed adjectives to describe personality. We also paid
attention to gender and number agreement (e.g. perezoso/a).
Periodos 4,5 y 7: Today you were assigned your oral #2. We went over
describin the animals in North America. For oral directions, please go

Periodos 1 y 3: Today a few students took the oral. We will continue on
Thursday.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: Today we described the animals from South América. We
listened to descriptions and then guessed the animals. We specifically

Periodos 1 y 3: Today we reviewed for the oral. We described all the animals
from North America. Then we went over basic requirements for an oral. If you

Periodos 4,5 y 8: Today we looked at animals from the Galápagos Islands,
such
as the sea lion, the penguin and the lizard. We described them physically.
We also paid attention to adjective endings according to gender (¿gordo o

Periodos 1 y 3: We reviewed for the vocabualry quiz by providing physical
descriptions of many of the animals introduced earlier this week.
Periodos 4,5,8: Todau you took a written quiz on saying where people are
from. I'll try to have them graded by tomorrow.

Periodos 1 y 3: We looked at more animals native of South America (the
llama, the tapir, the coquí) and described them in more detail by describing
parts of their bodies.
Periodos 4,5 y 8: We reviewed for the quiz which is tomorrow. Now you are
able to say where people are from, every speaker (yo, tú, él, ella,
nosotros, nosotras, ellos, ellas).

Periodos 4,5 y 8: Since a considerable number of kids was on the field trip,
we checked homework and reviewed countries. Tomorrow we will learn new
information.

location. Then we introduced celebrities from those countries.

By now everybody has taken both the oral and written quiz. Today you
received your oral grade. Remember to get it signed by Monday (periods 1 and
3) or Wednesday (periods4,5 and 8).
25 de septiembre
Periods 1 and 3 paracticed for the oral while periods 4, 5 and 8 completed
the study guide. Therefore, periods 4, 5 and 8 will have the oral on
Thursday.

Today we completed a study guide to practice for the oral on Wednesday.
19-21 de septiembre
This week we created short conversations to get to know one another better.

You were also able to greet each other and end the conversation, too.
You will have an oral quiz on Tuesday where you will have to use these.
