| We have begun writer's workshop in ILA. Each
day, we have a writing mini-lesson followed by independent writing.
While students are working, I conference individually with them to help
improve their writing, offer suggestions, and discuss the paper, essay, or
entry they are working on. Formal papers will be due every three or four
weeks and will count as test grades.
In addition, students are required to write independently in their
writer's notebooks for at least 10 minutes four nights a week. They may
write any nights they choose and must date each entry. By the end of each
week they should have a minimum of 3 pages.
Notebooks will be graded every four weeks. An outline of my grading criteria
is stapled into the front of your notebook.
