LA - Happy New Year!
Reading
:
We start a new unit of study regarding social issues and human experiences. Students will pick a new independent reading book in the HMS Media Center that deals with an overarching social issue theme. We will brainstorm various human experiences people face in America today and look through different nonfiction books that deal with social issues.
Writing
:
Our new unit of study begins this week on expository writing. Students will learn to break down a variety of famous quotes and what they mean, then respond to these quotes in a logical format using new techniques and previously learned skills.
Spelling/Vocabulary:
S
tudents will continue to work in designated groups based on individual spelling levels. Spelling rules, definitions, and use will be taught and practiced each day.
