Welcome to Mrs. Thomas's ILA class! I hope you read lots of great books this summer. I look forward to
hearing all about them when you get to school.
I am anticipating a wonderful year of learning and growth. I believe students work best when they are
placed in a comfortable, supportive learning environment. Therefore, I will encourage you to take risks
without fear of failure and to become more responsible by informing you of guidelines regarding
discipline, homework, and general expectations, all of which will remain consistent throughout the year.
In sixth grade, you will gain a deeper understanding of our language and how it’s used to communicate
and convey ideas through written texts by participating in reading and writing workshops and practicing
daily word study.
