Each child was given a list of reading journal prompts. They are to choose
4 different prompts to respond to from their independent reading book.Each
response needs to be a well-developed response. The
children can hand write or type their responses and then staple them into
their Reading Journal. The next set of four entries
is due Febryary 22, 2012 Attached you will find a few of the prompts in
case you do not have the paper they are listed on.
Each week the children will have 20 to 30 words to study in their Words Their
Way notebook.
The words will follow specific patterns. Children will write 10 sentences on
Monday. For Tuesday they will try to find at least 10 other words that follow
one of the patterns. Study words each night. A quiz will follow every
Friday.
Children should be ready to read, use, and spell the words in their weekly
sort. Words are found in the Words Their Way notebook.
Children should be reading independently for a minimum of 25- 30 minutes each
day, five days a week. The time is to be recorded on the reading log. Logs
are to collected every two weeks.
