I was so happy to have had the chance to meet with all of you at parent
conferences. I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.
The students did very well on the math test that we just completed on
Chapter 3.
A note went home in your child's homework folder regarding the
Cumulative spelling test to be given the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Something new the three second grades have started this week is the
November Homework Bonus Calendar. This is an OPTIONAL assignment that the
students will be given extra credit for completing any or all boxes. They
will also be sharing their bonus work with the rest of the class. It is due
at the end of the month. This has nothing to do with the spelling tic tac
toe. If you have any questions, please let me know.
The students did very well on their November Bonus work. The December Bonus
Calendar will be coming home this week and will be due on December 23rd.
We have started our Desert Unit in Science.
In health we are continuing to talk about keeping healthy and eating
healthy, making good food choices, and learning to read food labels.
After some review, the students completed a quiz over the information we
have covered in our study of Thankskgiving. The students enjoyed preparing
the Thanksgiving recipes with our parent volunteers, and enjoyed the tasting
even more! Everything was delicious!!!
Our next Social Studies unit will be holiday traditions around the world.
There is a note note in your child's homework folder regarding a second
grade parent meeting to introduce to you the website the second grade
students will be using to practice their math skills. Please return the slip
at the bottom of the note which indicates whether or not you can attend.
Please be sure that your child has his homework folder, spiral homework
notebook, and purple homework notebook each day when they come to school. We
use these things first thing in the morning.
