Math test over measurement and graphing will be Monday, June 4th.
Studying packets and vocabulary cards have already gone home so the students
can begin studying.
Please don't forget to return the Walk-A-Thon Packets.
We are continuing with the Readers and Writers Workshop. Students have
been reading their leveled books as well as books of their choice that they
can read at an independent level. We have been learning about dialogue in
books and the differences between fiction and non-fiction books and how they
are read differently. We are now learning how to use pictures and text to
help figure out difficult words in a book. Students are learning to write
about small moments in their lives and use details appropriately to extend
their writing. This allows the reader to have a clear picture of the writers
intent. Students have also learned to write friendly letters, persuasive
letters, and a biography. Our next writing unit will be types of poetry then
How To writing.
In Social Studies we are finishing our unit on communities.
In Science we are finishing our unit on the Solar System.
In math we are finishing our units on measurement and graphing.
In health we have talked about fire safety, that words are not for
hurting, the difference between telling and tattling, and school wide we will
be talking about respect. We have finished our dental unit and are beginning
our nutrition unit. We will be discussing making healthy food choices, the
food pyramid, and reading a food label.
As always, thank you for your continued help and cooperation.
