Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope you all had a wonderful vacation full of rest and fun.
April seems to be flying by! In reading, students have been engrossed in our baseball unit. We have
read awesome stories about famous players, such as Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson and Jackie Mitchell-
The Strike Out Queen. If you don't know about Mighty Jackie's exhibition game against the New York
Yankees, you should definitely ask your child to fill you in. Although the stories are read for pleasure
and to gain knowledge, we have also been working on analyzing text, answering multiple choice
questions and referring to specific details when responding to open ended questions. The children are
working hard on "hitting it out of the park!"
"The next day was rainy and dark."- Charlotte's Web. We will be using sentences like this and making
our own during our study of adjectives. Children should be adding appropriate adjectives to their
writing, so in addition to identification of adjectives, we will be working enrich our writing with
descriptive words.
I hope everyone is enjoying working on their photo stories. This is a very special project that students
will cherish for years to come. Please contact me if you have any questions about the requirements.
Remember that I only need the signed slips turned in on each due date. I don't need to see any of the
work until the final project is due.
Enjoy these beautiful spring days!
