What's happening?

 May, 2013

Welcome Spring!!!

Thank you all for sending your children to school this week well-rested and
ready for the NJASK challenge. You would be very proud of your children if you
could observe them working so hard on the tests. They did a great job!

The following dates in May are important:

Monday, May 20 - VMS visitation
   Wednesday & Thursday, May 22 & 23 - Family Life Education
Friday, May 24 and Monday, May 27 - Schools Closed
Monday, May 28 - Band Concert
   Wednesday, May 29 - Olympics

Thanks for all that you do to support your child's success. I have every
confidence that all our our students will perform beautifully on the the
upcoming standardized tests.

Parents - FYI:

In fifth grade we continue the independent reading assignments that the
students experienced in fourth grade. Your fifth grader will be required to
read each night for homework, and parents are asked to support us by signing
off on reading records. Students will be carrying their free-reading
books home each night, so we ask that you purchase a sturdy plastic carrier
for this purpose. Globe-Weis makes different types of sturdy file folders and
they are available at Staples. A sturdy ziplock bag will suffice if you
cannot get a file folder

Reminder:

Each night your child needs two signatures from you for homework. Please sign
the daily agenda as an
indicator to me that all homework has been completed and packed for school.
Reading homework
each night is simply to read for pleasure for 20 minutes, record the amount of
pages read on the
Reading Record. Please initial the Reading Record after your child completes
this task.

In the morning, each child who has completed all homework and has two parent
signatures receives a
sticker. Accumulated stickers lead to great PRIZES for your children!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND COOPERATION!!
