Mrs. Sheila Allen-Williams, Educational Librarian Media Specialist
Mrs. Allen-Williams has provided dedicated service to the Hillside District
for thirty-two years. She is entering her eleventh year providing service
in the capacity of educational media specialist. Mrs. Allen-Williams is a
graduate of the Hillside School System. Mrs. Allen-Williams was nominated in
2003 by her colleagues and selected as one of the New Jersey State Teachers
of the Year. She was also nominated in 2006 and was recognized by the
National Honor Roll Committee as a NHR's Outstanding American Teacher.
The education of "her" students as she fondly refers to each of them is of
great importance and high priority. She has been singing since the early
stages of her life and finds great joy uplifting the spirits of others in
song. Mrs. Allen-Williams also enjoys reading and crafting floral
arrangements.
Mr. William Michael Tyree, Librarian Assistant
Mr. Tyree has been the library assistant of the Hillside High School Library
Media Center for ten years. Mr. Tyree provides assistance to the students
and staff who visit the library. Mr. Tyree is interested in the theater and
was a theater major prior to his employment with the Hillside School System.
Mr. Tyree also enjoys singing and finds great joy in uplifting the spirit of
all those he comes into contact with during the course of the day.
Mr.Tyree enjoys video gaming and basketball.
The Hillside High School Media Center performs as an intrinsic component of
the Hillside High School community in collaboration with administrators,
teachers, and students,as enhancement to the curriculum through the variety
of resources provided by the media center are encouraged.
A major focus of the Hillside High School Media Center is information
literacy which encompasses the full range of abilities that students must
acquire to enable effective interaction with information and the
construction of meaningful knowledge.
