Children will be assigned homework, nightly. Parents, please initial and
staple all papers. (It really helps to keep your child organized.) I do
monitor missed homework. If your child has forgotten assignments on 5
different days, they will have a Thursday detention. (2:40-3:10). A pink
detention slip will be sent home for your signature.
Each child will be given a homework planner. Upon arrival each morning, they
must copy their homework assignments. Please arrive to school on time so
your child will have plenty of time to complete this task. (For some
students, parents feel free to jot the main homework headings for them each
day: math, reading, phonics, spelling, extra.) Then all they have to do is
write the page numbers. If you choose to write me a brief message in the
message box, please tell your child to show it to me, as I may not see it.
Watch for any teacher messages. Please, initial this pad, too. We must keep
our communication lines open.
Children will receive 4 notebooks, to to begin the year. The Red Dot book
will contain our weekly spelling words. Spelling homework will be done in
this book. It will also have reading words, vocabulary words, and highlighted
phonics sounds. Please ask to see this book, drill any difficult reading
vocabulary each night. They will also have a sticker book. This book will be
used for all class/board work. The journal will contain writing assignments,
and there will be a shared notebook for science/social studies.

Please empty all folders, nightly, extra papers always cause problems. Send
all money in marked envelopes, name, amount, and use. PLEASE LABEL ALL
CLOTHING. SENT GYM CLOTHES IN A SEPARATE, SMALL, TOTE BAG. WE DO NOT STORE
THESE BAGS IN OUR BACKPACK OR CLOSET.
