week of February 13-17-
Lunch menu for the week: Monday- tacos $1.50 Tuesday- hot dog w/beans $1.25
Wednesday- homemade chicken soup w/ turkey sand.
Tuesday 2/14 is Valentine's Day and we do have a small celebration in class
with juice and cupcakes or cookies. The children may bring in Valentine
cards, the rule in my room is EVERONE MUST GET ONE! I cannot allow them to
only bring in cards for a favored few.
REMINDER Friday 2/17 is a 1/2 day session. It is also our turn to host the
mass. As part of this being our mass the children and I discussed doing
something that shows our commitment to going out to love and serve the lord.
We are collecting coloring books and crayons for the patients at Children's
Specialized Hospital. We will also be making cheerful drawings for the
children's rooms who are patients in their long term facility. Our own Gia's
mother is a doctor on staff there and will be seeing to it that all these
items get to the children from our grade 5 class. .
In Science we are fast approaching our much anticipated Volcano project. In
the past I have absorbed the cost 100% for this fun project but the cost of
the materials have really escalated, I am more than happy to cover some of
the cost but I have to collect $1.00 from each child to help with
some costs. I usually purchase instant paper mache mix, green spray paint
glue gun sticks, vinegar, baking soda, red food coloring and other misc.
items. Last year I spent $45.00 . I apologize for this inconvenience but I
hate to cancel this fun learning experience. Thank you for your
understanding and cooperation in this matter.
School is closed next Monday and Tuesday for the long President's Day
weekend, have a relaxing time.
Parents, be advised if your child has not been picked up by 3 o'clock they
will be sent to aftercare for a fee. This is even more important at this
time of year especially since we are heading into the time of year when the
weather turns cold and inclement.
