ICS Band Attendance Policy 2011/2012
· Students must arrive prepared at each rehearsal/ lesson with their:
- Instrument
- Band Music
- Reed Instruments: Reeds
- Percussion: Sticks
- Failure to have one or more of these items will result in the lowering of their grade for the day by one letter.
· Students will receive a grade for Band. The grading system will be as follows:
- O= Outstanding
- G = Good
- S = Satisfactory
- NI= Needs Improvement
- U= Unsatisfactory
- If a student receives a grade of U for more than one marking period, they risk dismissal from band.
· Excused Absence/Tardy will be granted to a member who notifies the conductor in advance of the rehearsal or lesson to be missed. A "good cause" reason must be explained. (An absence from school is considered an excused Absence.)
· Unexcused Absence- Absence without prior notice will be considered unexcused. More than three unexcused absences from a rehearsal/ lesson within a marking period will prevent a student from performing in a school concert.
· Two tardies will count as one (1) unexcused absence.
Concert Dates (All specified Band members are required to attend the following concerts.
- Christmas Concert- December 13, 7 pm (Jazz Band, 6/7/8 band, 5th Band)
- Music in the Parks Competition- May 18- All Day (6/7/8 Band)
- Spring Concert- May 22, 7 pm (Jazz Band, 6/7/8 Band, 5th Band, 4th Band)
- Jazz Band Performance at the Somerville Library May 25- 7 pm (6/7/8 Jazz Band Only)
