Mrs. O'Rourke has been a teacher for 39 years. Because she has worked
with students in grades 3, 4, and 5, and BSIP, she brings a vast wealth of
experience to her students in her present basic skills math program. Not
only does she help students to meet the basic math curriculum standards, but
also inspires them to excel through the use of critical thinking exercises
and problem solving strategies.
Mrs. Oliver has been a teacher for over 16 years and has worked on
various levels. Prior to working here at Midland School as a basic skills
language arts teacher, she was a fourth grade teacher, a fifth grade teacher,
and a support teacher for grades one through eight. She also has had the
opportunity to work with high school students, preparing them for the verbal
section of the S.A.T. Mrs. Oliver shares her passion for reading and writing
in an effort to encourage her students to read and write with confidence and
to develop a love for each.
The purpose of the Basic Skills Improvement Program is to improve the
basic skills of those students whose standardized test scores indicate a need
for remediation in math and language arts literacy.
