About the Teacher

My name is Annie Nikovics and I became a NJ certified elementary teacher in
2003. I am a proud graduate of Rutgers University – I received my ED.M.
degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in 2007. This will be my
third year at OLOL and I consider myself very blessed to be a member of such
a dedicated, caring school community.

I believe that being a teacher is a special calling. My desire of wanting to
be a teacher was born when I first "taught" third graders as a five year-old
little girl, eager to model my father who was the principal of the local
school and the third grade teacher at the same time. Growing up in a school
environment has quickly helped me to realize how beautiful it is to educate,
touch and shape lives. It soon became clear that I cannot be anything else
but a teacher myself...

Besides teaching I love to read and write books: my first illustrated
chapter book, Katica Kalandjai was published in the original, Hungarian
language in 2003. The English translation, The Adventures of Katie Ladybug
was released in the United States in 2005.

My hobbies are not limited to reading and writing, though. I also love
craftmaking, hiking, nature and wildlife - I enjoy all of God's beautiful
creation.

Mission For The Class

I realize that teaching children is a privilege, as well as a tremendous
responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has
a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. I want to make
my students' school environment a pleasant one, filled with rich
experiences, challenging projects, loads of achievements and lasting
friendships. My personal and professional goal is to bring each child closer
to God and help them to create a special bond with Our Lord.
