Hello!
This week in reading, we will be reading Tops and Bottoms, a folk tale
starring some familiar characters! This story also teaches us about
vegetables, so we'll be having vegetable soup on Thursday! We will be
focusing on the comprehension skill of setting with this story.
In Writing, we will be learning how to end our stories, which will complete
our unit on the Narrative Writing Diamond, and the Organization Trait.
In Math, we will begin our unit on Geometry. At the same time, we will
continue to work on multiplication/division, and problem solving. As the year
goes on, and the content gets more difficult, it becomes more and more
important to practice math at home. Thanks for your support!!
In Social Studies, we will continue to study the Siouix Indian Tribe. The
students are doing a great job writing about a day in the life of a Sioux
Indian!
This Tuesday is Valentine's Day. We will not be having a formal party, but we
will enjoy a special snack and have time to exchange Valentines. A list of
students names went home last week, but you can also find them at the end of
this post.
Remember that there is no school this upcoming Friday and then Monday. Enjoy
the long weekend!
Another way to keep updated on school news is to "like" our class on
Facebook! Just search for Miss Pilcher's Class! See you there :)
Did you know that Mrs. Pedroza has a blog that students and families can
respond to? Bookmark the following link to stay in the loop with our
principal!

Please remember that we are always collecting Box Tops, Coke Rewards, and
Campbells labels for Education! Every little bit adds up, and our students
benefit from these programs!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me. :)
