This is my eleventh year teaching language arts literacy. I have taught
language arts for grades five through eight and served as a middle school
math coach for Paterson Public Schools for five years before coming to work
in Riverdale. My love of literature and writing is the driving force behind
my instruction (I also love math!).
I live in Pompton Lakes with my husband and my children, Erik who is 15, and
Heather who is 8 (and my dogs Scooter and Noel).
I strive to involve all students in their own learning, encourage creative
risk-taking, engage all learning styles, and create a learning community
where all students are valued. I am dedicated to the following goals:
* to ensure all students meet or exceed the language arts standards;
* to inspire students to develop passion for literature;
* to forge confidence and effectiveness in expressing ideas through
writing,speaking, and presenting;
* to challenge students to think critically, question, and actively
participate;
* to instill positive character traits;
* to nurture the desire to be life-long learners.
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think
critically... Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true
education.” --Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
