The Mission of the Music Program is to promote an understanding and
appreciation of music through active participation in the processes of
singing, playing, moving, creating, reading and listening to music.
The goals of the program are:
--to increase the sensitivity of all students to the power of music as an art
--to become aware of the role of music in the lives of all people and
cultures
--to explore music and develop the skills necessary to allow students to
immerse themselves in the music itself and attain a degree of success in
music through training and experience
--to assume responsibility for his or her learning and musical development
--to become aware that music can enhance and support what our students learn
in other subject areas, and still maintain its own integrity as that special
intelligence that we call music
--to explore the use of emerging technology to develop skills in music.
