About The Director

Mrs. Varda Wendroff has been working for the Bayonne School District since 1978. She taught French, German, ESL and Hebrew at Bayonne High School before becoming the Bilingual/ESL director in 2001. She not only directs this department but also the modern language department. Even though she has left the classroom in 2001, she has not left her passion for teaching and working with children. Mrs. Wendroff was honored by the Richard A. Rutkowski Association for her commitment and dedication to making Bayonne a better place for its citizens. She was also recognized in "Who is Who in America".

Mission For The Department

The Bilingual/ESL department of the Bayonne School District is committed to help limited English proficient(LEP) students learn English through specialized instruction, using strategies and methodologies appropriate for all students. We want our children to become proficient and eventually to ensure that they become productive citizens of the United States.
