It is very important to read with your child everyday. You should be reading
at least 10 minutes everyday. Please make sure to read the decodable readers I
send home every week with your child. Encourage your child to read the short
stories to you. I have been encouraging the students to make their own
"library" at home with these books. The decodable readers are filled with high
frequency words and spelling patterns we learn in class each week. This extra
reinforcement will help to improve your child's reading ability and help to
make your child a more confident reader! Also, please review the high
frequency word cards that are sent home with your child every week.

*** Please remember that birthday treats and snacks CAN NOT be distributed
throughout the school year. This is a state regulation that is strictly
enforced at Arleth School. Please, do not send any food items to school with
your child on his/her birthday. Your child may bring in non-edible items,
such as stickers, pencils, and erasers to share with the class.
