The Sayreville Public Library has recently moved its complete Parenting
collection into the Children's Room for convenient access in addition to its
Parent Resource Center Collection which focuses on resources for families and
teachers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Log onto the Sayreville Public Library's website for information on special
events for both children and adults.
The single best thing you can do for your child is read to him on a daily
basis.
Read and recite nursery rhymes with babies and toddlers.
Sing silly songs about the alphabet or with rhyming words.
Let your child tell you a story from the pictures in a book.
Introduce chapter books to preschoolers by reading one chapter a
night before bed. Children can understand more difficult language
than they can verbalize.
Read the comics in the daily paper with your child and share a laugh.
Many of the jokes depend on understanding multiple meanings of the words.
Get a library card and one for your child(age 5 and older) in his or
her own name at the Sayreville Public Library, then let your child select
books to borrow every week or two. Participate in some of the special
reading programs the children's library offers.
