A Peek Inside our Class

Measurement Olympics: "Sponge Squeeze"

Miss Sidiqui, our student observer, is seen here with some students as they first estimate how many cups they think they will be able to squeeze from a sponge in one minute. Then they time themselves and measure the results.

Measurement Olympics: "Masking Tape High Jump"

Students first estimate how high they think they can jump, and then jump with a piece of masking tape around their hand to make their mark. Students meaure their results.

Measurement Olympics: Handy Helpings"

How much does a handful of paper clips weigh? What about a handful of pattern blocks? Students make estimates, then use the balance with our homemade "ounce weights" to unravel the mystery.

Measurement Olympics: "Cotton Ball Shot Put"

Mr. Fiory stopped in to participate in a few events! Here we see him throwing the "cotton ball shot put" for students to measure his distance.

Measurement Olympics

We take our measurements seriously!

Measurement Olympics

It's fun to learn how to use standard units of measurement!

We're All Connected!

While discussing our class rules, we created a web to represent how each one of us is important to our community of learners. If one person dropped their strand of the web, the entire web was affected. In the same way, all of us must work together to create a wonderful community of learning!

Pop Open a Good Book

We wrote book reviews of our summer reading.

Hard at Work

In second grade, we work hard to become better readers, writers, and problem solvers.....

Have Clipboard, Will Travel

Clipboards help us feel very professional!

Stumped?

In our class, we can sit on the "stump" anytime we need some inspiration.
