It's 2012!  Time is flying by.  This winter will be very busy for the students of Team 4-2 in LAL.  We will be reading stories in StoryTown with new spelling words of course.  But we will move away from writing to Entertain and move into one of the other purposes an author employs.  TO INFORM OR PERSUADE.
The students will focus our writing on Expository pieces.  Expository writing is writing to inform, teach or show.  We will work on improving our ability to teach others through the written word.  Not only will we be writing directions, etc; we will also read directions and follow them.  Let's see how we do.
Besides writing to inform, the class will work on our ability to use the "text" to answer questions COMPLETELY.  Too often we rush through answering questions and do not use the information the author provides to support our answers.  So...we will enforce the notion of "PROVE IT" as it applies to answering questions.  By forcing the class to go back and use the text, their responses to questions will improve by leaps and bounds.
