FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What is Co-operative Education? Co-op Education is a 15 credit work/study program. It combines classroom instruction in employability skills with a supervised work experience. Students are required to log 540 hours during the year in an approved job to receive credit. Can you enroll without the work hours requirement? Yes. There is a 5 credit "modified" program called Career Orientation which affords a student the opportunity to take the employability skills class without the work component. My child is going to college. How will a work program benefit him/her? Students work in positions which follow their long-term career goals. It is important to have relevant experience in whatever vocation one may persue, regardless of post-secondary endeavors. The ratio of students continuing onto college from the work study program does not statistically differ from the general population of SPFHS (90%+). |
