***Now that the Benchmark Assessment is complete on the Law of Conservation of
Mass, we are continuing our study of chemical reactions. Here are some
Essential Questions to consider when reading and working at home.
        a. What is a chemical reaction?
        b. What are the parts of a chemical reaction? (reactants, products)
        c. What are the different types of reactions and what is happening?
( Synthesis, Decomposition, SR, DR, Combustion)
        d. What is the Law of Conservation of Mass and what does it mean?
        e. How do you balance a chemical equation and why?
        f. What factors change the rate of a chemical reaction?
        g. How is energy involved in a chemical reaction?
             (Endothermic vs. Exothermic)

1. Read and Review chapters 3.1 - 3.3 and 4.1 in the Chemical Interactions
text book

2. Section 3.3 Review Questions ARE due on April 19rd.

3. Section 4.1 Review Questions ARE due on April 20th

4. Chemical Reaction Analogies in the format that we discussed in class. They
ARE due on April 19th. An example of the format is listed below....

EX. "A WAVE is LIKE a ROLLER COASTER because it goes up, down and eventually
comes down"

The terms for the chemistry homework assignment are
a. Bond Energy
b. Chemical Bond
c. Exothermic Reaction
d. Endothermic Reaction
e. Solution
f. Solute
g. Solvent
h. Suspension

***NOTEBOOK CHECK items FROM APRIL 04, 2012***
**Students need to have the following in their science section of their
notebook. Students who do not have this information neatly presented and/or
organized will incur a 12 point deduction for each deficiency. The following
items are required....
1. Chemical Reaction Notes (From all of last week and this week in class)
2. "How to Count Atoms" worksheet
3. "Counting Atoms" Worksheet
4. "Types of Reactions" worksheet
5. "Balancing Equations" worksheet
6. Section Reviews for 3.1 and 3.2

PRACTICE BALANCING CHEMICAL EQUATIONS USING MY PRACTICE BALANCING LINK AND THE
