We are busy blending sounds into words now, especially words with short a and i. We are adding to our sight words and our list already
includes; the, a, my, an, and, is, am, and said. We are learning about marks of punctuation as we read and do our writing. We know about the
period, question mark, exclamation point and this week we learned that when someone is speaking, the words are in quotation marks. Put this
all together and we are really reading! Practicing our little books each week will really help to get us there!
In Math, we have finished the chapter on patterns and are REALLY good at them! We are now working on numbers 0 through 5. We are
practicing writing them, matching the correct number of objects to a numeral and the idea of more and less. In the mornings, we are counting
by ones and tens. When we get the tens down, we will start to count by fives as well.
We had a great time at our Thanksgiving party, thanks to our room parents and all of you that sent in treats. We learned about the Pilgrims
and Native Americans and looked adorable in our costumes that we made all by ourselves!
I am looking forward to seeing all of our parents at conferences this week. If you haven't received your time (the slips were sent home last
week), please let me know. I will be sending a reminder again Tuesday.
It is time to think about our Holiday celebration. If you would like to participate or be a send-in, please contact Trish Aveno or Melissa Trout-
Baron or myself. This time is especially exciting to all, but especially to Kindergarteners!
Greenhouse is going well and a big Thanks to our volunteers! The children learn a lot of Science through these activities. Gardening is a
lifelong enjoyment!
As you can see, we are very busy in Kindergarten! As much work and learning that is going on, we still have fun! Play is the work of a child
and they learn so much through play. Getting along with one another, being kind, helping, manners, and feeling important to a group are all
things we need for the rest of our lives. Every individual child is important to our class and I hope they feel that while they are here. I enjoy all of
their unique personalities!
