World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse
Join us for a one-mile walk to help raise awareness to prevent abuse and violence against children in New Jersey and throughout the world. Nov. 19, 2008, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Atlantic City Boardwalk  The walk will begin at Kennedy Plaza at Boardwalk Hall. Sponsored by the NJ Department of Children and Families Division of Youth and Family Services Division of Prevention and Community Partnerships.

Planning for Effective Involvement of Parents
of Students Receiving Special Education Services

Parent/educator teams will learn a planning process to develop and implement activities that enhance the involvement of parents of students with disabilities. Teams will be able to use this information to facilitate planning meetings in their school or district.

First Statewide Youth Helpline Launched 2NDFLOOR
The 2NDFLOOR youth helpline gives young people a place to turn to before violence or tragedy occurs. The helpline is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week to children and young adults ages 10-24. Youth can either call the helpline, 1-888-222-2228, or access the interactive Web site www.2NDFLOOR.org

Resource on Teaching Children with ADHD

The U.S. Department of Education has released a new publication entitled
Teaching Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Instructional Strategies and Practices .  Also available is the first publication, Identifying and Treating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Resource for School and Home which was published in 2003.
