FAQ"Got Questions??" Your library has the answers! Find the answers in your library's 15,000+ volume collection or explore the many links from the library's webpage. Listed below are SOME IMPORTANT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS about LIBRARY PROCEDURES & POLICIES.
HOW MANY BOOKS MAY YOU HAVE CHECKED OUT AT ANY ONE TIME? You may check out 3 items at a time, including fiction, nonfiction, biography, or reference books. One of the 3 items could be an audiobook, in cassette or CD format. (If you need a cassette recorder to listen to an audiocassette, you may check one out as an additional item. In such a case, you may have 4 items checked out in your name.) HOW LONG MAY YOU BORROW LIBRARY MATERIALS? Return items ON or BEFORE the 2-week due date. (Reference books may be checked out as "overnight books" and are due back the next school day, before the start of period 1.) If you would like to keep an item for a longer time, be sure to RENEW before it is overdue. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT RENEW A BOOK THAT IS OVERDUE? 1. If you have an overdue, you lose your privileges to check out any additional books and an overdue notice is sent to your homeroom teacher. 2. A second overdue notice, sent one week later, is a final warning! 3. Any student who receives a third overdue notice is SUSPENDED from the library, losing all library privileges for independent visits and borrowing opportunities. A suspended student may accompany the teacher if his/her class has planned a visit, but no items may be borrowed until the overdue problem is resolved. Of course, as soon as the student takes care of the overdue responsibility, all privileges are restored. IF A BOOK IS OUT, HOW CAN YOU GUARANTEE TO BE THE NEXT PERSON TO GET IT? At the checkout desk, ask for the title to be put "ON HOLD." We will call you to the library to pick up your request when the book returns. DO THE MAGAZINES ON THE DISPLAY SHELF CIRCULATE? The new magazines are non-circulating and displayed so everyone has a chance to see them. But - - once a new issue arrives, the older issue is shelved in the "Back Issues" section and it may be borrowed, like books, for a two week period. |
