Welcome Back ESH!
The following are some items of interest
that should help prepare you for Earth Science Honors and
Back-to-School.
1. Complete your summer
project and task
tracker.
2. Study
for summer project exam.
3. You will need 2 notebooks and at least
1 folder for science.
a. One
notebook for class notes.
Whatever notebook you like to use is fine. It should be separate from other
subjects. I do suggest
a loose leaf notebook so that you can put your text outlines, handouts,
reference tables, etc. right in your notebook in the proper place. Loose leafs
are very easy to keep organized. You will bring this notebook everyday to
class.
b. One
composition lab/journal notebook.This
will be used for journal entries, as well as, collecting lab data. You will
bring this notebook everyday to class.
c. At least one
folder. You need to keep
yourself organized and there are A LOT of handouts in this class. You don’t
want to lose anything.
4. You will need to bring 1 EMPTY 2-liter
soda bottle to school by Monday
9/10. If you would like to
earn a little lab extra credit, you may bring 1 additional empty 2-liter soda
bottle.
5. Lab
supplies:
(NOT required...extra credit only)
a. We have some supplies for lab;
however, in the past students have found it beneficial to keep their own set
of supplies. If you would like to bring in your own supplies, you can earn 5
bonus points onto your first lab. These supplies will stay in the lab
cabinet at school and will be for your personal use only. Bring these to
school by Friday
9/14.
b. To earn +5 bonus points, bring in
the following supplies in a labeled Ziplock bag:
i. Colored pencils
ii. Glue stick
iii. Large eraser
iv. Highlighter
v. (2) #2 pencils
***if there are other supplies you would
personally like to bring to keep in class (examples include a mechanical
compass, markers, large scissors, etc.) you are more than welcomed to do so. All
personal supplies will stayed locked in the lab cabinet for your own personal
use only.
6. You will need a calculator
that has a cubed
root function. The
standard trig calculators you use for math class are perfect.
7. Download and examine the “ESH
Welcome Back to School” PowerPoint.
Many of your questions will be answered in this PowerPoint.
8. Register for the Earth Science
Supplemental Websites. You will be using these throughout the year. E-mail me
if you have any problems with any of these website, because various
assignments require your use of these sites. You can find these sites on the
Earth Science Supplemental Websites page.
