Study Island – students in grades 3, 4, 5 have the opportunity to
practices skills and concepts in Language Arts and Mathematics that support
the New Jersey core curriculum Standards that are assessed on the NJASK
tests. Parents of third grade students will receive directions as to how to
access this Internet resource. Students in grades 4 and 5 may continue to
log in with last year’s username and password. Specific directions are
found on the school website.
Flue Symptoms- please help us to safeguard the health of all members
of the Warnsdorfer community. Be sure to keep your child home if she
demonstrates any flu-like symptoms. When you call in your child’s absence,
be sure to indicate the nature of his illness so that we may track flu or
other illnesses and take appropriate precautions. Keep in mind the Center
for Disease Control and the Middlesex County Health Department does not
recommend the closing of schools during a flu outbreak, unless a very
significant portion of the staff and substitutes are too ill to come to
work.
Fitness a Thon – Many thanks to all parent volunteers who helped to
make this a success. Contributions will fund future assembly programs.
Boogie Bash – Many thanks as well to parents who worked to bring a
night of fun and friendship to our students. Everyone had a howling good
time.
Open School Week – Nov. 15 – 21 – All parents are invited to visit
their children’s’ classrooms on Friday, Nov. 20th. Mark your calendar for
this date so that you can see the how your children are learning each day.
You are invited to visit at the following times:
o 9:30 – 10:30
o 1:30 – 2:30
PTA Book Fair - November 11 and 12. This would be a great time to
purchase some books for holiday gift giving.
Caring for our environment – please remind your children to be
respectful of the trees and other plantings on the school grounds as they
wait before and after school. Children should not be climbing or hanging on
tress or walking in flower beds and among other plantings. Keep in mind that
all school plantings are maintained by student in the SAVE Club. It is very
disappointing for these children to witness their hard work trampled upon.
Election Day – Tuesday, 11-3 – School will be dismissed at 1:15. No
lunch will be served.
Outdoor Recess – Please be aware that students will go outside daily
for 20 minutes following lunch. Students may not be excused from outdoor
recess unless they have a doctor’s note. Please dress your children for the
weather. Daily outdoor exercise is an effective deterrent to the spread of
contagious diseases as well as an opportunity to practice a healthy life
style.
Lunch tickets- We so appreciate that many families are purchasing
lunch tickets in advance. It really speeds up the lunch line, giving all
children more time to enjoy their lunches. It would also be appreciated if
you would send exact change or a check in the exact amount - $13.25 per week.
Thanksgiving Holiday - will begin at 1:45 dismissal on Wednesday,
Nov. 25th. Please accept my best wishes for a happy and safe holiday.
