| WARNSDORFER THIS MONTH
DO THE RIGHT THING
MAY, 2008
• Dismissal – In order to insure the safety of all students each day,
it is necessary for all parents and anyone who picks up students to observe
the following guidelines:
o Parents should escort their children home directly following
dismissal. Children are not permitted to play on the front lawn. This is
not a school activity and poses many threats to children’s safety and well
being. Please arrange play dates off of school grounds if your children wish
to play after school.
o When picking your children up at 3:25, please wait outside.
Frequently the lobby gets so crowded with adults that students become anxious
and confused and frequently miss their buses.
• Hot weather – As the warmer weather approaches, please be sure that
your children stay hydrated. They may bring water bottles to school on very
hot days, as the classrooms may get very warm. Please make sure that they
dress appropriate to the temperature as well.
• Teacher and Support Staff of the Year Awards- Mrs. Sharon Switkes and
Mrs. Jodi Aranowitz will be honored by the East Brunswick Board of Education
at its meeting on Thursday, May 1st at 8:00 at Churchill Junior High School.
We are all very proud of both staff members who are truly deserving of their
awards.
• Footballs are not permitted in school at any time.
• 2007-2008 Calendar Revision – the Board of Education has approved the
following changes to this year’s school calendar.
o June 23, 24 will be early dismissal days (1:15 – no lunch served).
o June 24 is the last day of school for students.
o June 23rd – fifth grade moving up ceremony
• Moving?-If you know that you will be moving and your children will
not return to Warnsdorfer next September, please call the school secretary,
Mrs. Lish to arrange for transferring your children. It is most helpful to
us to have this information early so that we may plan more effectively.
• Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week is May 5-9. If you wish to show your
appreciation to a teacher or other staff member, putting your thoughts into
writing, or having your child do so is much appreciated.
• PTA Plant Sale – Monday and Tuesday May 19 & May 20– if you
preordered plants, please consider whether or not your child will be able to
transport them home alone.
• Lost Books –students must return all lost books, textbooks or library
books before they receive their final report card. If you are unable to find
the book(s), please contact the teacher or Mrs. McSween to find out the
replacement cost. The money for replacing the lost books should be sent to
the front office. Checks should be made out to Warnsdorfer School.
• The Child Assault Prevention Program (CAP) will be presented to all
kindergarteners and students new to East Brunswick schools on May 16 and 19.
A parent information session will be held at Central School on Wednesday,
April 30 at 7:30 PM.
• Wednesday, May 7th is ACES DAY – All students will participate in
outdoor exercises in the afternoon. PTA will provide water. Please send
sunscreen or hats.
• Field Day is May 28th. A regular school lunch will be served, which
is a departure from the past. Students will be engaged in outdoor
activities, please provide sunscreen and/or hats. Volunteers are needed to
assist in activities and provide drinks.

May 23rd. Students should be prepared with a bag lunch and blanket or towel
for this outdoor activity.
• Second and Fifth Grade students will participate in standardized
testing during the week of May 5-9. Please make every effort to avoid
absences during that week. Testing will occur every morning on the dates
listed below. Students who arrive late to school on those days will not be
admitted to class and will be required to make up the testing on another
date.
