WHAT IS A CHILD STUDY TEAM?
The CHILD STUDY TEAM is a multidisciplinary group of individuals, a Learning
Disabilities Teacher-Consultant, School Psychologist, School Social Worker,
and Speech/Language Specialist. Their purpose is to screen and identify
children between the ages of three and twenty-one years of age for
educational disabilities, and who are eligible for special education and/or
related services.
The CHILD STUDY TEAM confers with educational staff and parents/guardians,
and collaboratively suggests interventions, reviews assessment data and
develops Individualized Educational Plans (IEP's).
Frequently, the Child Study Team also serves on committees such as
Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS), and "504".

To educate each child in the Least Restrictive Environment. This means to
keep children in the mainstream classes to the best of their ability. It is
the feeling of the Child Study Team that each child, classified or not has
weaknesses and STRENGTHS. Our job is to provide the best possible education
so each individual child can learn to cultivate their strengths and develop
strategies for their weaknesses.
