About The Teacher

I am a graduate of Woodrow Wilson School and Weehawken High School. GO
INDIANS! I have been a teacher in the Weehawken School District since 1983,
and have had the privilege to work in the Academically Talented Program
since 1984. I attended college in New Jersey, where I received my B.A. in
Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I hold a Masters Degree in
Education.

Mr. Jonathan Hammer
A teacher in the Weehawken Public Schools for the past thirty-six years, I
have been part of the marvelous Academically Talented Program with the
gifted teacher, Linda Shertel, since 1988. I graduated from St. Peter's
College with a B.A. in history and a minor in economics. I received my
teaching certification from New Jersey City University. The charming
Weehawken has been my home for over thirty years. As a founding partner of
the Original Kid Witness Program and the director for the past 28 years, I
have been a part of the program from humble beginnings in Weehawken in 1983
and have proudly witnessed its growth to over 225 schools covering four
continents. My teaching schedule includes math, social studies and science.

Mission For The Class

Our mission is to empower each student to reach maximum potential and
prepare them to accept the challenges of a changing society. To help them
to be the best they can be, and instill in our students a lifelong love of
learning. To take our students "beyond borders," and make their dreams
come true. Each day we will treat our students with respect, dignity,
compassion, and understanding.
