About The Teacher

Received a B.A. in Business Education from Montclair State University.
A member of the Weehawken High School faculty since 1997 in the Technology 
Department.

Worked in the communications industry for 15 years (ITT, Western Union, and 
AT&T) in Billing, Sales Support, Customer Service and Marketing.

Mission Statement - Course Objectives

WHS Mission Statment:  Weehawken High School is in pursuit of excellence.  In 
this pursuit, we pledge to empower each student to reach their maximim 
potential, develop life values that enchance social responsbility and prepare 
them to accept the challenges of a changing society.  

Computer Applications will prepare students for the role they will play in 
today's electronic, technological work world and society.  This course 
provides a concentration of basic concepts and "hands-on" experience in 
common computer software aplications including word processing, spread 
sheeting, graphics, database, presentations, and multimedia using the 
Microsoft Office suite of programs. Students will also refine and strengthen 
their keyboarding, communications, problem solving, and critical thinking 
skills.

Intro to Keyboarding/Technology.  Any student NEW to the district in grades 
9-12 is required to take this full-year course.  Through a blend of 
curriculum from Grade 7 and Grade 8 Technology, students will acquire basic 
technological knowledge and skill which will be applied to hands-on 
applications.  Touch keyboarding skills (35 wpm), universal word processing 
concepts, communication and presentation skills, spreadsheet and database 
concepts along with Internet usage will be sufficiently developed to enable 
the student to use the computer as a problem solving tool and prepare them 
for more advanced technoogy classes.

Communications/Technology is a requirement for all eighth grade students. 
This half-year course dovetails Intoduction to Film.  Students' study and 
technology skills will be expanded.  Focus will be on oral and written 
communications along with refining Internet research techniques to enable 
students to create and present talks and multimedia projects.

Students will be assessed at the conclusion of the half-year class in order 
fulfill a state-mandadated requirement.  The will demonstrate their ability 
to perform Internet research, synthesize data, credit their sources, produce 
and present a 6-slide MS PowerPoint project.
