Getting Ready For 2nd Grade!

The first grade teachers have done a fantastic job of preparing your child for second grade.  Here are a few things your can do at home this summer, to help reinforce and review:

  1. ·Keep a summer writing journal and try to write about your day, feelings, or creative stories.  The children can “sound” out their words and circle them if they aren’t sure of spelling.  Having ideas written down is more important than the spelling!

  2. Review addition and subtraction facts.  Play games in the car, create flashcards!
  3. Practice counting money!   Review exhanges of money, giving change back and counting up to $1.00

  4. Read, read, read!
