Classroom Information

                                                 Breakfast/Snack

Each child must have a small nutritious breakfast/snack each day. The
breakfast/snack may be brought from home or purchased at school. If you are
packing a snack from home, please place the snack in a separate bag from your
child's lunch. The price for snack each day is $1.25. If you would like to
purchase snack from school, it must be payed on the last day of the
preceeding week. Our usual snack time is between 9:30 - 10:00.

                                                     Lunch
Lunch can either be brought from home or puchased at school for $2.75 per
day or $13.75 per week. Milk may be purchased alone for 65 cents per day
(or $3.25 for the week). If you are sending in money for either lunch or
snack, please send the money in an envelope clearly marked with the
following information:

                               Child's Name
                               Teacher's Name
                               Date
                               Amount Enclosed
                               Indicate Snack or Lunch Money

If you are writing a check, please make it payable to "Woodland School
Cafeteria". The children will still be eating lunch on half-days, so please
send money with your child on those days. If you are sending a drink from
home, please send a juice box or thermos only, no glass bottles or soda
cans. If you would like to purchase ice cream, the cost is $0.85. Please
send ice cream money in an envelope separate from the lunch money. Exact
change is greatly appreciated!

                                                     Rest Mats
Each child needs a rest mat or small blanket for our daily rest time. The
Woodland Home and School Association sells rest mats for approximately $25.
If you are interested in purchasing a rest mat, please contact the Home and
School Association. Our rest time will be from 1:00 - 1:30.

                                                     Backpacks
Please send your child with a sturdy backpack to school each day. Your
child will be carrying papers, books and folders to and from school. Please
make sure that the backpack is big enough to fit a folder, without bending
it. This bag should be clearly labeled with your child's name and teacher.
Also, please make sure your child's jackets and coats are clearly labeled
with your their name. They are often misplaced!

                                                      Notes
Please place all notes in your child's folder, inside the left pocket. I
will check and empty the folders everyday. If you have access to e-mail,
you can contact me via e-mail. This is probably the most immediate way to
receive a response from me, as I check it multiple times per day. My e-mail
address is: gregory.sumski@msdk12.net. You can also click on the mailbox
icon on the homepage to send me an e-mail.

                                                      Pick-Ups
If you are planning to pick your child up from school on any given day, I
must have a signed and dated note from you that morning. If I do not
receive a note, your child will be sent home by means of their regular
transportation. If your child is having a play date with another child in
our classroom, both parents should send a note in verifying this arrangement.

                                                  Nightly Folder/Homework
Each child will receive a folder. This folder must be returned to school
each day. Please check the folder each night for notes and homework.
Homework must be returned the next day, unless otherwise indicated.

                                                      Schedule
Our specials are on a six-day schedule. Each day is given a letter A-F.
Please click the "Schedule" icon to view our class schedule. I will also
post a weekly schedule under the "Announcements" heading.

                                                      Field Trips
Our class will be going on a variety of field trips throughout the year that
enhance and compliement our curriculum. In September, $25 will be collected
to cover the cost of all our field trips. Individual permission slips will
be sent home a few weeks prior to each trip.

                                                       Wee Deliver
Woodland School has an internal mail system for the children to send and
receive letters. The children are welcome to write letters to friend in
their own class as well as children in other classes in the school. The Wee
Deliver mailbox is located in the mail hallway, next to the side doors.
Relatives of the children are also welcome to write to the children. The
letters can be mailed to the school directly and will be placed in the Wee
Deliver Mailbox by the office staff. When mailing a letter to the school for
Wee Deliver, please address it in the following way:

                                    Woodland School
                                    c/o "Child's Name"
                                    Wee Deliver
                                    Sumski Stadium - Route 5
                                    51 Johnston Drive
                                    Morristown, NJ
                                    07960

                                                      Yearbook
Throughout the year, I will be taking picture of the children during field
trips, classroom activities and special events. I will compile all the
pictures to create a DVD Yearbook for the children.

                                                      Sharebox
The sharebox will be used as a form of Show and Tell. Each student will be
given an assigned day to bring in a special item from home they would like
to share with the class. Some months will be free choice, while others will
have an assigned theme. Please select an item that is able to fit inside a
small box. Please help your child write three clues about the item they
chose. Upon arriving at school, the item will be placed inside the
sharebox. During share time, your child will read their three clues to
their classmates. The rest of the children will take turns guessing the
identity of the item in the box.

                                                     Seating
Each child is assigned to one of six tables within the classroom. Seating
arrangements are changed monthly to ensure the children have an opportunity
to sit with all the children in the class at some point during the school
year.

                                                     Stoplight
Each child has a car, labeled with their name, on our class stoplight. The
cars remain on green throughout the day. If a child shows inappropriate
behavior in the classroom, their car will be moved to yellow. As a
consequence for being moved to yellow, five minutes of recess time will be
taken away and a note will be sent home explaining the child's behavior. If
additional incidents occur, such as hitting, the child's car will be moved to
red and a note will be sent home explaining the child's behavior. Recess
will also be taken away for the day. If the situation warrants, our school
principal will become involved. Other systems in place to encourage positive
behavior are King or Queen of the Day, Quietest Rester Award and Fabulous
Friday.
