What time does my child need to be in school?

Children are permitted to arrive at school as early as 8:15am, if they do not
receive school breakfast services. The first bell rings at 8:30AM. The late
bell rings at 8:35AM. If a child arrives at school after 8:35AM, they are
considered tardy.

Where do I pick up my child after school?

Your child will be dismissed from the school's side entrance near
the playground. They will exit the double doors, walk down the
ramp, and wait on Dyer Avenue near the playground. In order for a
child to be allowed to walk home in 4th grade,a written note must
be provided to the teacher/office allowing permission.

What do I do if my child misses a day from school?

If your child misses a day of school, please access the teacher web's homework
site from home. If they have siblings in the school, I will send home any
work they have missed with the sibling. If your child does not have a sibling
in the school, you may contact the main office in the morning and I can have
any work that your child has missed ready to be picked
up at the main office. It is highly recommended that you contact the main
office to have work sent home if your child has missed 2 or more consecutive
days of school.

What is the policy for making up missed work due to absence?

Your child has the same amount of days to make up the work that they have
missed. For instance, if your child is out 1 day, they have 1 day to make up
any missed work. If your child is out for 3 days, they have 3 days to make up
any missed work, and so on.

What is your homework policy?

I believe homework is important because it not only teaches students to assume
responsibility of their own work, but it also reinforces the skills we did in
school. It teaches independence and good study skills. Furthermore, it
provides parents with an opportunity to see what their children are working on
in school. Homework is always due the following day, unless otherwise noted.

Why is it important that my child bring their homework folder and assignment pad to school everyday.

Communication between home and school is vital to your child's
success in the classroom. Each night your child will bring home a Folder
which we call our "Homework Folder." This folder will come home every night
and should be returned to school the next day. The pockets in this folder are
labeled "Keep at Home" and "Return to School." All homework will come home in
the "Return to School" side of the folder, and should be returned the next day
unless indicated otherwise! You will automatically find classroom notices,
reminders, and special events. It is important that parents check and empty
the folder every night to ensure all communication lines remain open and
current. As fourth graders, the students will be required to write down any
homework assignments in their assignment pad. To keep lines of communication
open, please review and initial your child's assignment pad daily. Thank you!

How can I reach you to discuss any questions or concerns?

There are several ways to contact me. You may send a note with your child in
their homework folder. I can write a note back or contact you at my earliest
time. You may also contact the main office if you would like to set up an
appointment to meet with me. I request that you schedule an appointment with
me or the main office if you would like a personal meeting since I am a coach
during the fall/winter seasons and would need to make proper accomodations.
