Dear 3rd grade families-
This week, we will substitute test-ready activities for the usual vocabulary
list. Each night, students will be asked to independently complete a section
of the omni program. It is very important that they receive no help at home
with these. I need to know the errors they are making so I know best how to
support them and provide strategies for each student. We continue with our
Sharon Creech book but are reading them at school this week instead of at
home. We are also working on creative projects and book reports for the books
at school. We will be taking the DBA during one class period the week of the
30th in class. I will be at a head teacher training Wednesday but will have a
sub.

Dear 5th grade families-
Math-
We are printing out tessellations and experimenting with color and materials.
We are also working on fractions and doing 1 page of the practice DBA each
day along with a page of fraction homework. This will help us in discussing
strategies and hints for success with multiple choice formats. We will do the
DBA one day during the week of Jan. 30th in class. Please do not help
students with the multiple choice so that I can determine what they are
missing in order to help them.

Language Arts-
I received fabulous book reports yesterday and am extremely please with the
effort and quality of work! We will begin our new book Walk Two Moonsin the
next week. At that time, we will be working in a literature circle and each
student will have a job each night to complete and share as we work our way
through the book. A more thorough explanation will be forthcoming along with
a literature circle booklet. We will be taking the DBA in the next couple of
weeks.
