FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions
of
students and parents.
  1. May I have a pretzel?
  2. What if I am absent?
  3. What is the best way to reach you if I have a question?
  4. What are the Annotated Reading Logs? Why are we doing this?

May I have a pretzel?

Yes. Sometimes we need a little boost of energy! I am happy to
provide a
small snack to someone who is restless, hungry, or just needs to
chew
something. No biggie!

What if I am absent?

If you are sick, I hope you stay home and get healthy! However,
if you are up
to it, you may email me and let me know. I can let you know if
there is
anything that can be easily made up at home or not. If you are
sick when a
big assignment is due, you need to email it to me. Upon return
to school, even
if it is NOT a day that your section meets, you should check the
blue
"Make-Up
Work" folder, then check with me. The sooner you can get caught
up, the
better!

What are the Annotated Reading Logs? Why are we doing this?

A lifelong learner is one who reads – in breadth and depth. That
means you read more than merely your favorite genre or author;
you read more than what is simply required; and you read for
enjoyment, to learn new ideas; and to challenge yourself. This
log is a record of the reading you do. When you complete a book
or extended piece (lengthy article or story), record the basic
information and write a paragraph that tells about the gist of
the book. Rate it based on your own interests.
-- This is a way to give credit for and document the reading you
do.
-- Complete one sheet/four entries for 1st semester. (Criteria
may change 2nd semester) Parents will sign this before you turn
it in at the end of the semester.
