About Me:

I am very happy to join Bosque School as the new 9th Grade Science teacher.
Conceptual Physics is my favorite subject to teach!

Why physics? When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to attend a
really great physics camp, called PREP, at the University of Rochester.
There, local girls were introduced to the world of physics and engineering,
and I learned about all the cool things scientists were able to do! Physics,
in addition to being the most basic of the sciences, is also the cleanest.
I'm a bit of a neat freak.

Why teach? While I was still at the University of Rochester, getting my B.S.
in Optics, I actually had the chance to teach PREP to a new group of
students! I spent my summers planning lessons, activities, labs, and field
trips...then, teaching physics. It was the best job I'd had to date, and I
loved it. However, my degree was in engineering, not education. I came to
Albuquerque first as an engineer (at Intel) and later became a teacher
(working at Manzano High School before Bosque). I have one of the greatest
jobs in the world, because I get to share something I love with young people
who are just learning to love it.

Physics First is Physics for All

Conceptual Physics in the 9th grade gives ALL students the opportunity to
study advanced sciences with a strong foundation in basic principles. Every
single student who is successful in Conceptual Physics has the potential to
be successful in advanced physics. Before Conceptual Physics, not everyone
took the advanced classes!

The basic ideas of Physics are central to the entire body of science. Things
like motion, energy, and conservation laws are universal, and will help you
go into more depth later on.

Also...physics is FUN.
