* Students should be working on their next 5 Book Bingo Summaries. They are due May 18.
* Students should be working on their CIvil War Speech every night. Students will present their
speeches on May 18.
* Important Dates:
April 30: Human growth and Development Unit
April 30: BAM Show at Popejoy and UNM tour, bring sack lunch
May 7: Poetry Packet due
May 7: Field Trip to the Sandia Natural History, all day, need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle
May 15: Field Day
May 17: Possible Tram Field Trip
May 18: Civil War Speeches and parent BBQ
May 22: 5th grade vs staff kickball
May 24: 5th grade vs staff basketball
May 29: last day of school
Here is what is planned for the week in curriculum...
Math: Monte Vista implements the Investigation Curriculum. Students will begin unit 9 on data analysis
and probability.
Language Arts:
Reading: We will be reading short stories and working on comprehension strategies.
In writing using the Six Traits of Writing: Students will finish their poetry packet due on May 7 and
continue to work on their "Bucket List"
Spelling: In our classroom we use the Rebecca Sitton word study program.
Science: Students will be working on Human growth and Development.
Social Studies: Students are working on Civil War.
* Students should be reading for 30 minutes every night and then logging
it on their log sheet. Log sheets will be turned in on the last day of each
month.
