Dear Families,

There are two scheduled field trips for our enrichment lab in the month of October.

Our first field trip (October 23rd) is the Water Festival, held in conjunction with the 4th grade (required
for all 4th grade students). It is a free event and buses are provided; however, there are only
guaranteed spaces on the bus for parents of 4th graders and the students of the enrichment lab. If you
are able to attend this field trip, please be prepared to drive yourself, just in case. Actual time of this
field trip will vary from 9am to 3 pm according to the buses. Additionally, please send your child with a
sack lunch (please avoid foods that need to be re-heated). There are several field trips this day, so it is
possible your child would prefer to stay with his or her general education class for a different field trip-
--that is perfectly ok!

The second field trip is the Museum of Nuclear Science and Technology (The Atomic Museum) on
October 30th. We will be leaving the school at about 10am and will be carpooling to the museum.
Parents who attend must drive their own children. All other students will be assigned to a staff
member’s vehicle for transportation. The cost is $6.50 per person, which includes a morning energy
experiment session with “Little Albert Einstein” and an afternoon session in the museum. Please RSVP
and send these fees no later than Wednesday, October 28th. For lunch, we will be going to the
playground at Manzano Mesa Multi-Generational Center (across the street). Once again, students must
pack a lunch--there is not access to vending services or a microwave, so please plan accordingly. We
should be returning to the school between 2:30 and 3:30 pm.

Finally, the students have been informed that in order to attend the Atomic Museum field trip, all of
their Enrichment Lab work must be completed (turned in no later than 10/29/09). This includes all
required parts the Jr. Great Books (The Veldt and A Game of Catch) as well as their typed, completed
math game. Students have used class time to type and work on these in class, but may need additional
time to complete. Please call me at 877-9718 x 39311 if you have any questions.

Thank You,

Amanda Reyes,
Teacher of the Gifted
